Shakira records duet with father, a birthday gift
“Hay Amores” was written and recorded by Shakira in 2007 for the soundtrack to the film “Love in the Time of Cholera,” which is based on a novel by the same name written by Colombian author Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Shakira also wrote “Despedida” for the film’s soundtrack. Both songs were exclusively written for the film.
Shakira timed the release of the duet on Thursday, her father’s birthday (Happy Birthday!). On Twitter, Shakira shared this photo of her and her family celebrating her dad’s 81st birthday. In the photo, Shakira’s aunt Maria Alicia, her mom Nidia Ripoll and her dad.
Her father, in June, hinted that Shakira may be pregnant. The 35-year-old pop star has been dating Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, 25, since March 2011. An insider told Colombian magazine Gente, that Shakira and Pique were in fact expecting a child in early 2013. However, Shakira and Pique have not made any announcement.
